Part of the reason is that my old clubs (Callaway X-16) did not fit me very well because of its heavy weight. It was VERY easy to dig too hard with X-16 because of their weight.

The new Cleveland CG4 with Graphite Shaft is very light. Its grip is comfortable. The clubhead has 17 times more Carbon than a regular steel resulting in a uniquely soft feel. The distance, however, does not suffer. In fact, the lighter weight of the clubs have enabled me to swing faster with higher trajectory. I have gained 10-15 yrds on average.

The distance control was nothing short of amazing. Compared to this, the Callaway X-16 felt like a baseball bat.

Prior to purchasing these clubs, I have also tried the Titleist 804, Callaway Fusion Irons, and Taylormade RAC 4. Among them, I felt only the Tayormade RAC 4 compared favorably against the Cleveland CG4, but the Taylormade RAC 4 also costs $300 more. The Titleist 804 felt more like a traditional club and was comparable to CG4, but it didn’t have the soft feel of Cleveland. The Callaway Fusion Irons didn’t impress me at all.

The launch monitor revealed that I hit the 65 gr stiff graphite shafts the best. The Titleist felt the best when hit properly but didn’t feel forgiving enough.
So I bought these and have 2 weeks of practice and four rounds so far.
I really like them so far. They are longer, maybe 1/2 club, the trajectory is better, the accuracy seems improved. I look forward to hitting them more. I am pretty excited about them. I paid $[...] for 4-wedge. On another note, Ian fitted me for 2 Vokey wedges that have had an immediate impact on my game. He measured the proper bounce for my swing and it has made a big difference. I am clipping the ball cleanly and getting it close. I’d recommend the clubs, Ian & Tom Burnett’s Academy.Good luck with your decision.

After reading a lot of reviews online and playing around with a set at a big box store I decided to pull the trigger. What a great decision.

    I took these to the range and was knocking it stiff pretty regularly. Then I was able to steal away and play a quick 9 hole round at a challenging par three course. Played the best there I ever have. One thing I noticed was that my slice was gone and the ball either went dead straight or would have a slight draw. But more interestingly, I was launching the short irons in the air. Super high ball flight and soft landing on the greens. Great purchase.

    But remember, these are game improvement irons, they are max forgiveness and not made to regularly work the ball. I hope to play these regularly for a year and then move up to the next level with TaylorMade. These irons are already a major confidence builder and I can’t wait to get out and play again.
